IS THE PROCESS OF SMP AN ACTUAL MEDICAL PROCEDURE?

The process is not termed a medical procedure, but is conducted in sterile conditions by professionals certified in scalp micro pigmentation.

DOES THE PROCESS OF SMP LOOK AUTHENTIC?

The process of Scalp Micopigmentation gives a natural look that is designed to look like natural hair follicles. Even upon close inspection the SMP procedure people cannot distinguish SPM from natural hair follicles. We have patients that have said they told there friends they have had the procedure and there friends keep feeling their head to to see if they can feel hair. The amazing thing is that they still can't tell the difference because most people have some hair plus we have stimulated hair to grow. Therefor they can't tell the difference.

IS THE PROCESS OF SMP PAINFUL AND CAN I RECEIVE MEDICATION TO HELP WITH ANY PAIN?

The process is reported by clients to be painless but many feel a pulsing or buzzing sensation. If you are sensitive to pain we will be able to offer pain relief during the procedure. We suggest that you take two tylenol before the procedure.

IS THE PROCESS OF SCALP MICRO PIGMENTATION SAFE?

The process of scalp micro pigmentation is safe and is performed under in sterile conditions using the latest in high technology. We only used single sterile pre-packaged needles. The ink is organic and safe to the body. The ink is blended in small ink pods that is for that patient and is thrown out after the procedure. We fallow OSHA standers. The process is performed by a professional with many years of experience. The pigments used are of the highest quality.

WHAT PIGMENTS ARE USED IN THE TREATMENT?

The pigments that we use in the process are produced inside the US and come from a reputable source. The have been passed for use in the medical industry and have been designed to look exactly like hair follicles. They have also been specifically designed not to bleed or spread in the skin. They have also been designed not to cause allergies or irritation.

WHAT TYPE OF PATIENT IS ELIGIBLE FOR SMP AND IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT.

We only treat adults 18 years or over. In special circumstances a younger patient may be taken providing they have parental consent.

ARE THERE ANY POTENTIAL PATIENT TYPES THAT MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR THE PROCEDURE.

Certain patients with certain skin conditions may not be suitable for the procedure. In some instances patients with very red hair or very white hair may not be suitable. Any concerns regarding this will be discussed during your initial consultation.

I HAVE SCARS FROM PREVIOUS HAIR TRANSPLANT SURGERIES. DOES SMP HIDE OR PARTIALLY DISGUISE THE SCARS?

In the majority of case SMP can hide scars from a previous transplants surgery that used the the strip mining surgery where the scar is on the back of the head. The amount that can be disguised or concealed will depend on the severity and size of the scar tissue but in most cases SMP will be able to reduce the effects of scarring that was caused in a previous transplant. At your consultation we will advise on the best course of action and give you a possible indication as to how successful the procedure will be.

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I CAN HAVE A HAIR TRANSPLANT AFTER HAVING AN SMP PROCEDURE?

A hair transplant will not be a barrier or preclude you after having had an SMP procedure. In many instances SMP is done after the hair transplant procedure to help cover the scar left after the hair transplant procedure. The hairs that are transplanted must be healed. Once the hair are healed the SPM can be preformed. This actually adds in giving the patient the appearance of having a fuller head of hair.

IS THE PROCEDURE SUITABLE FOR FEMALES?

The procedure is of course just as suitable for females as it for males. There is a difference in men and women in that males normally go bald due to the condition commonly known as male patter baldness. Females with a balding issue wouyld be better to address the cause of the baldness before seeking treatment with SMP. This would need to be examined by our surgeon, Dr Shahine and from there a treatment plan will be given.

HOW LONG DOES THE SMP PROCEDURE LAST AND IS IT PERMANENT?

The procedure is not permanent but is what we like to call semi-permanent. The treatment will fade usually within 10 years and you will be required to maintain and take care of the SPM with wearing sunblock on your head and face, year round this will keep it looking sharp. With touch ups the look can be permanent, with the proper care and attention.

IS THE PROCESS OF SMP REVERSIBLE?

This is a question that we very rarely get asked but for those that want to know - yes - the procedure can be completely reversed. The pigment can be removed by using the hoya conbio Q switch laser in a couple of treatments. Our SMP Technician has years of experience removing tattoo and can remove it if if you so desire. Yes and this is something that we can discuss at your consultation.
