FAT TRANSFER (Philadelphia)

'Fat transfers' are a common procedure in cosmetic surgery today in the US. This procedure may also be known by a few other terms, such as 'fat injections' or 'fat grafting'. However they all refer to the same procedure known as 'fat transfer' which has revolutionized the industry and has provided a safe way for a patient to take ‘their own fat’ from an area of their body ‘the donor area’ and add it to an area where they need it ‘the recipient area’. The process of ‘fat transfer’ involves taking fat from one area of the body where it is not wanted and reintroducing it in a more purified version by injecting into another area of your body. This is done here in philadelphia with Dr Shahine who is an expert in the area, check out our gallery. Brazillian butt lift Philadelphia.

The ultimate goal in any fat transfer process is to add definition or volume to an area of the body which is lacking. ‘Fat transfer procedures’ are commonly made to the face, hands buttocks and lips. Many patients don't realize that fat can be taken from one part of the body and transferred to the cheeks, the naso- labial folds and to the lower jawline or chin most important is transfer to the Buttocks.

There are three main components of fat transfer that take place during the process:
  • The fat is extracted using a very thin cannula during liposuction.
  • The actual fat from the patient is processed where it is purified.
  • The fat is then injected into the patient into the donor area and example would be the Buttocks.

Fat transfers can address a number of issues in your body and the procedure can be performed on the face, cheeks, chin, crows feet, nasolabial folds and most important Dr Shahine specialises in transferring fat to the buttocks.

Transferring fat from one area of the patient’s body to your face will actually give the patient definition and restore facial structure. It can also improve the look of your skin as the sunken look is removed. Many patients looking for a fat transfer will probably have one of the following conditions

  • Sunken cheeks
  • An overall tired look
  • Frown lines
  • Under eye circles
  • Bags under their eyes
  • Fine lines and
  • Wrinkles around the eye or crow's feet

During the ageing process the dermis under her skin begins to sag and this can actually leave the face looking thin. This can also cause the face to look sunken and many women experience whether they are thin or medium or large frames. The process of fat transfer can actually add fat to lose area beneath the skin and it can result in a more fuller and youthful look.

During this process Dr. Shahine will apply purified fat injections into the ‘recipient area’ where the patient requires treatment. This process can also enhance the blood circulation in the tissues. This is due to the population of Adipose stem cells that are contained within the fat cells that are injected during the procedure.

How is a fat transfer performed?

Fat transfer procedures can be performed here in Philadelphia using local anaesthesia. Dr Shahine will take the areas from the donor sites and add them to the recipient sites.

Donor Fat can be taken from the lower abdomen area, the hips, the outer or inner thighs and once the fat has undergone the filtering process and it becomes purified and can be injected into the desired ‘recipient area’ most common area is the butt aka the Brizilian butt lift. When the patient receives a large volume of the fat transfer it will fill out to look more youthful especially in areas of the where cellulite and dimpled skin on the butt can be seen.

Many patients look to have the area under their eyes restored to their more youthful appearrance. Many also look to have more volume in your cheeks or on their chin in order to restore facial structure to the way it was when they were young.

Many doctors have now made the claim that more of their work involves removing fat from one area of patients body and placing it on another, rather than ‘nip’ and ‘tuck’ procedures. As the technology becomes more advanced and patients become more aware of fat transfer doctors perform less surgical procedures and more grafting with fat transfers.

How long do these fat transfer injections last?

Many patients are under the impression that these fat transfers do not last but this is not the case. When a fat transfer is performed a large amount of the injected cells do survive. Some of the fat cells don’t survive and are reabsorbed back into the body. As far as transfering the fat to the butt it is not even noticed when the cells are reasorbed.

How does fat transfer compared to injectable fillers like Juvederm in regards to the face?

Fat transfer is a more intricate procedure than the use of injectable facial fillers. This is due to the process involved in taking fat from one part of the body using liposuction and purifying it then injecting into other parts of the body. Injectable fillers can only be used in small volumes whereas fat transfers can be used in larger volumes. Additionally fat injections are a more natural surgical enhancement as the patient is using their own fat cells from a donor area and injecting it into a recipient area on their body.
